Dairy farming training course concludes at PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar)

Vocational Training Course on “Dairy Farming” was organized from 11th to 25th June, 2024 at PAU- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar).
During this training, animal science experts- Associate Professor (Animal Science), KVK Ropar, Dr. Aparna Gupta, Associate Professor (Animal Science), KVK Hoshiarpur, Dr. Parminder Singh and Demonstrator (Animal Science), KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr. Gurinder Singh imparted the trainees the basic information about dairy farming business, breeds of dairy cattle, structure of sheds, different methods of dairy farming, feed management, and shared detailed information on the seasonal management of cattle and calves, prevention and treatment of major livestock diseases as well as the economics of dairy farming.
Assistant Professor (Agronomy), KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, gave information to the trainees about getting green fodder throughout the year. During this training, Dairy Inspector from the Dairy Development Department, Shri Ram Sharan, gave detailed information to the trainees about the cattle insurance and other financial schemes being run by the government and the department.
During this course, the trainees were imparted practical knowledge such as handling of animals, feeding and watering, administering medication, vaccination, dehorning of calves, testing for mastitis using CMT kit and also imparted training on composition & preparation of mineral mixture at farm level.
At the end of the training, Associate Director (Training), Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, shared various points regarding the success of dairy farming with the trainees. He also encouraged them to also participate in other trainings on various subjects organized by KVK. He wished the trainees success in their dairy farming business and thanked them for participating in this training
